Design Thinking Course

The Design Thinking Course introduces a structured, user-centred problem-solving approach used across business, marketing, and service design environments to improve products, processes, and customer experiences. Organisations use design thinking when challenges are unclear, stakeholders are misaligned, or solutions need to be tested quickly before investment is made. The method helps teams define the right problem, understand real user needs, and make decisions based on evidence rather than assumptions.

Design Thinking for Innovation and Customer-Centred Problem Solving

Design thinking is used when organisations need to solve problems that involve people, behaviour, and real-world constraints. It provides a structured way to move from assumptions to evidence by understanding user needs, defining problems clearly, and testing solutions before committing time and budget. In business and marketing environments, design thinking can improve customer experience, reduce friction in processes, and strengthen alignment across teams.

This course introduces design thinking as a repeatable process for innovation and customer-centred decision-making. Students learn how to conduct basic user research, capture insights, and define problems in a way that leads to clearer solution options. The programme covers structured ideation techniques, rapid prototyping approaches, and testing methods that support learning and iteration. Students also build capability in applying feedback to improve outcomes, helping you use design thinking to support customer-focused marketing, service improvement, and business decision-making.

This course is delivered by Digital School of Marketing. On successful completion, the certificate is issued by the delivering partner college. Certificates per completed module may be issued where offered.
