Exercise and Pregnancy

The Exercise and Pregnancy course develops specialist knowledge for students designing and supervising exercise programmes for pregnant clients. Pregnancy involves significant anatomical and physiological change that can affect balance, joint stability, cardiovascular response, and overall training tolerance. Because of these changes, exercise professionals need a clear understanding of contraindications, risk management, and trimester-appropriate programming to support safe participation and client confidence.

Exercise and Pregnancy for Safe Prenatal Exercise Prescription

Exercise during pregnancy can support wellbeing, strength, mobility, and confidence, but programmes must be adapted to the client’s trimester, health status, and changing physiology. Pregnancy can affect posture, balance, joint stability, and cardiovascular response, which means training choices and intensity must be managed carefully. Safe prenatal exercise programming depends on screening, contraindication awareness, and appropriate progression.

This course integrates pregnancy physiology with structured exercise prescription principles, supporting safe programme design across all trimesters using evidence-based practice. Students learn how to identify contraindications and pregnancy-related risk factors, apply safe adaptations for common movement patterns, and use supervision techniques that support comfort and safety. The programme also applies foundational exercise science in anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology to prenatal training contexts, alongside basic nutrition considerations that influence training support and wellbeing during pregnancy.

This course is delivered by Trifocus Fitness Academy. On successful completion, the certificate is issued by the delivering partner college.
